Characteristics Assessed
The Job Fit Inventory for Support Staff development process includes a detailed job analysis of the positions that will be covered by the tool. That, along with position-specific validation, will determine the range of characteristics that the JFI-S will address. In advance, the following characteristics have been identified for inclusion:
- Cultural Competence – willingness and ability to work with people from different background; respect for differences among people
- Ease of Supervision – gets along well with supervisors and managers; open to direction
- Flexibility/Openness to Change – able/willing to handle changes to the job over time and to changed priorities in a given day; oriented toward “continuous improvement”
- Interpersonal Skills – ability to interact effectively with teachers, parents, students, etc.; willingness to work in a team environment
- Reasoning/Cognitive Skills – learns effectively; able to apply rules and procedures to make good decisions on the job
- Reliability – approaches work conscientiously; believes in the importance of on-time attendance; consistently follows through on commitments
- Stability/Stress Tolerance – emotionally stable; maintains a positive attitude; deals effectively with change
