Test Characteristics
The Polaris testing system is grounded in a set of homogeneous constructs that can measure up to 24 personality, attitude and skill dimensions. The strength of the system is that these 24 “elements” are invisible to users. Instead, they are combined into predictor dimensions (e.g., Fairness and Respect, Cultural Competence) that communicate easily to users.
The result is a testing system that meets the criteria of both testing professional and day-to-day users:
- The dimensions contained in the Polaris tests possess psychometric characteristics that meet the standards of test and measurement professionals. Specifically, all scales have Cronbach’s alphas of at least .70.
- Simultaneously, the structure of the test dimensions allows the test results to be presented in a manner that district administrators understand without additional training.
